MARRIAGE FOR ALL JAPAN – PRIDE FILTER

OUTLINE

PRIDE FILTER is an AR camera that helps voters identify political candidates who support same-sex marriage by simply scanning election posters.

When users point their smartphone at an election poster, those of pro-marriage equality candidates will light up in rainbow colors.

Users can also view their policies, positions and past initiatives related to marriage equality in greater detail through this interactive AR experience.

In order to create this tool, the team needed to collect image data of election posters across Japan.

However, since these images were not publicly available online, the posters had to be photographed directly at election poster display boards across the country.

The team called on collaborators nationwide, who helped to capture photographic images of these posters. The image data was then linked with the candidates’ statements on marriage equality and “PRIDE FILTER” was launched in just a few days.

*PRIDE FILTER was launched in Japan under the name “PRIDE VISION.”
