Tokyo, Japan — TBWA\HAKUHODO today announced that Yuhei Ito, Head of Design, has been selected for Campaign Asia-Pacific’s prestigious 40 Under 40 2025 list, honoring rising leaders who are shaping the future of the industry.

With nearly two decades of experience, Ito has consistently pushed the boundaries of design, redefining it as a tool for lasting societal impact. His groundbreaking projects include THE REBORN LIGHT, which transformed discarded EV batteries into streetlights in post-disaster Fukushima, and Hi Toilet, the world’s first fully voice-controlled, touch-free public restroom in Tokyo. Ito is also the creator of SHELLMET, a biomimetic helmet made from recycled scallop shells, which evolved into SHELLTEC, a circular design platform that has earned international acclaim.

In 2024, Ito co-founded the Earth Centric Design Lab (ECD), a platform dedicated to planet-centric value creation. His leadership has fostered a culture of inclusivity and sustainability, while his mentorship and agency-wide initiatives have promoted diversity and gender equality. Through projects such as SHELLTEC and Green Journey, Ito has demonstrated his vision of design as social infrastructure, turning innovative concepts into lasting realities that create both societal value and new business opportunities for TBWA\HAKUHODO.

Ito’s recognition on Campaign Asia-Pacific’s 40 Under 40 2025 list highlights his role as a global leader in design innovation, where creativity transcends aesthetics to build a more sustainable and empathetic world.
